(Figure Presented) In a (nut)shell: Covalently wrapped in a protecting and solubilizing dendrimeric shell (see picture), an initially Hydrophobic two-photon fluorophore becomes a biocompatible contrast agent with strong emission for imaging in vivo by multiphoton microscopy. © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
