A seven-month-old boy was diagnosed with amebic abscess of the right lobe of the liver two weeks after a rectoscopy for bloody diarrhea with negative stool tests for parasites. He had been weaned at the age of three months. Clinical manifestations at presentation suggested septicemia. The epidemiology, pathogenesis, and diagnosis of amebic abscess in infants are discussed. Pharmacotherapy without aspiration of the pus ensured a full recovery.
