Level structure of Ni60 from the Ni58(,2p) reaction

Physical Review C, Volume 29, No. 2, Year 1984

The Ni60 nucleus has been studied via the Ni58(,2p) reaction at E=32 MeV using in-beam spectroscopy techniques. High-spin states up to 10 MeV excitation have been established. Among the five branches depopulating the yrast J=7- state has been found an E3 transition down to the 4+ state. Comparison with direct reaction results suggests the very likely [f52,g92]7- configuration for the J=7- yrast state at 5349 keV, suggesting then the [(p12,p32,f52)2+2×(f52,g92) 7-2]9- configuration for the J=9- yrast state. Other high-spin states might be accounted for by the breaking of the Ni56 core.
