BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Volume 88, No. 9, Year 1981

Two patients with metastatic choriocarcinoma complicated by severe thyrotoxicosis, leading to cardiac failure in one instance and thyroid crisis in the other, are described. The successful treatment of these complications is detailed, and routine prophylaxis for high risk patients, using propylthiouracil, oral iodide, propranolol and urgent, aggressive chemotherapy, is recommended.
