SHINING A SPOTLIGHT ON AFRICAN RESEARCH

Recognition and treatment of Burkitt's lymphoma

TROP.DOCTOR, Volume 1, No. 1, Year 1971

There is no more satisfactory form of cancer to treat than Burkitt's lymphoma. The response to simple chemotherapy is better than with any other form of cancer. Although spontaneous remissions have been recorded, the majority of untreated cases are rapidly fatal. It is, therefore particularly tragic when these unfortunate children are denied a good prospect of recovery through failure of diagnosis or through ignorance of the possibility of simple, effective treatment.
