Cross sectional estimation of loss reserve for egyptian fire insurance market

The study's aim is to estimate reported loss reserve using cross sectional regression Datafor actuarial reserve estimation techniques is collected from the biggest governmentalinsurance company's (Misr Insurance Company) and for the total market. The testedvariables include underwriting premiums, paid claim, reinsurance issued premiums,inflation rate, and the investment rate. The cross sectional regression results show that onlyunderwriting premium, paid claims and inflation rate are significantly related to the lossreserves, where the relationship is positive for underwriting premium and paid claims, andnegative for inflation rate. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2011.
