Fibro-osseous lesions of the skull, face and jaws in kaduna, Nigeria

An illustrative series of 13 fibro-osseous lesions in the jaws and cranio-facial skeleton of black Africans from Nigeria is reported. The cases range from unambiguous cranio-facial fibrous dysplasia, through active or aggressive monostotic lesions to slow-growing tumours. The basis and validity of differential diagnosis between fibrous dysplasia and ossifying fibroma is discussed, and the management of the cases outlined. © 1980.
