Gravitational collapse on the brane: A No-Go theorem

Physical Review Letters, Volume 87, No. 23, Article 231302, Year 2001

The effect of braneworld gravity on gravitational collapse and black hole formation was investigated. The analysis was performed by studying Oppenheimer-Snyder-like collapse on a Randall-Sundrum-type brane. The role of Kaluza-Klein energy density in collapse was also considered using a toy model. A no-go theorem, which states that the exterior space time cannot be static, was proved.
