More than 20 years of international cooperation for the conservation of biodiversity in Equatorial Guinea: outcomes and challenges

International cooperation with the Equatorial Guinean administration in biodiversity conservation issues started more than 20 years ago. Since then, an ample number of projects have been implemented with different outcomes but similar limitations and challenges. Despite of most governmental effort, future conservation proposals in the country will have to attain authorities assume like own the biodiversity conservation of the country. Next to it, the development of the recent national conservation institutions and the appropriate training of sufficient number of local staff could be the following challenge. To obtain a continued funding to support conservation actions will help to the establishment in the country of a strategy of conservation that secure effective results in the long term.
