Rare earth Er3+/Yb3+codoped-sol gel SnO2 For up converter solar cell

The rare earth couple Ytterbium-Erbium doped tin dioxide (SnO2:Yb3+/Er3+) were prepared by sol gel method using tin(II) chloride as source of Sn2+ ions, Ytterbium and Erbium chloride hydrate for doping rare earth ions source. This material is considered as a promising up-converter material for solar cell due to energy transfer (ETU) between the rare earth dopant elements. The powders of pure and doped samples were prepared and characterized by X-Ray Diffraction DRX, Infrared Spectroscopy ATR-FTIR, X-Ray Fluorescence RFX techniques. The Inductively Coupled Plasma ICP-MS were performed for elemental composition. All the results are shown and discussed. RFX and ICP-MS exhibits a ratio of 10 between the dopant's concentrations.
