Characteristics of anxiety and depressive manifestations in patients with acute myocardial infarction taking into account their personal accentuations

Azerbaijan Medical Journal, No. 2, Year 2021

The article presents the comparative results of anxiety and depressive manifestations in patients with acute myocardial infarction, depending on their personality accentuation. The study included 38 patients of the specialized cardiology department of the Poltava regional cardiological dispensary with acute myocardial infarction. The study of the level of personal and reactive anxiety was carried out using the Spielberger-Khanin scale, the severity of depression - the Beck depression scale, the definition of the type of personality accentuation - the Leonhard-Shmishek questionnaire. Most of the examined patients with acute myocardial infarction had a high level of personal and reactive anxiety and a moderate level of general depression. An analysis of the level of anxiety depending on personal characteristics showed the predominance of certain types of anxiety depending on accentuation, namely, in exalted and anxious personalities, a direct correlation with the reactive type of anxiety has been established, and in unbalanced and emotive personalities - with personal. The results of the study make it possible to conclude that in exalted and anxious individuals, anxiety is directly caused by acute myocardial infarction and physical conditions, while in unbalanced and emotive individuals; anxiety is the result of their personality traits.
