Inventory and conservation status of aromatic and medicinal plants in Morocco

The valorization of aromatic and medicinal plants requires perfect knowledge of these plants. In Morocco, several studies have been conducted on aromatic and medicinal plants but no exhaustive list has been developed yet. Through this work, we have tried to inventory, as much as possible, all the plants used for aromatic and medicinal purposes. The results of our bibliographic research resulted in listing a total of 743 taxa belonging to 101 families and 371 genera. Among these taxa, 40 are endemic to Morocco, 104 are cultivated, and 96 taxa are rare or threatened of which 17 are endemic to Morocco. Traditional knowledge and the socioeconomic value related to the use of these plants will be published later.
