EFFECT of PLANT OILS Nigella sativa and Salvia officinalis on the BIOCHEMICAL INDICES of CD-1 MICE

Uchenye Zapiski Kazanskogo Universiteta. Seriya Estestvennye Nauki, Volume 155, No. 3, Year 2013

The paper studies the effect of plant oils Nigella sativa and Salvia officinalis on CD-1 mice after carbon tetrachloride, capable of causing abnormal and toxic changes in the body. It is shown that the injection of cumin or sage oils before or after carbon tetrachloride has a leveling effect on the liver and kidneys. There is a tendency to the recovery of the functions. The use of the oils as prophylactic drugs is less efficient probably due to the fact that metabolites contained in the oils activate the protective functions or regenerative mechanisms of the liver and have hepatoprotective properties.
