Meta-analysis of the studies on research interview with people with intellectual disabilities: A synthesis of works

Psychologie Francaise, Volume 62, No. 2, Year 2017

The authors conduct a qualitative meta-analysis of 22 articles or chapters from books relating to interviews with intellectually deficient people. They analyse what is said about the difficulties encountered by both interviewers and interviewees and the strategies proposed to break down barriers to intellectually deficient people speaking out. A summary is made of the recommendations made by researchers relating to the shape interventions are to take and the general environment for interviews. By way of a conclusion, the authors stress the need to develop works focusing on the conditions that may enable intellectually deficient people to be in the best position to talk about their intrapsychic and intersubjective life. The article is rounded off by ideas as to how research can be further pursued on the issue.
