Lignan glycosides from stems of Salvadora persica

Phytochemistry, Volume 31, No. 7, Year 1992

From stems of Salvadora persica, five glycosides were isolated. Two are new and identified as sodium 1-O-benzyl-β-d-glucopyranoside-2-sulphate (salvadoside) and 5,5′-dimethoxylariciresinol 4,4′bis-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (salvadoraside), in addition to syringin, liriodendrin and sitosterol 3-O-glucopyranoside. This represents the first report of syringin and lignan glycosides from the family Salvadoraceae. © 1992.
