An erythematobullous plaque of abdomen

Nouvelles Dermatologiques, Volume 27, No. 3, Year 2008

A 84-year-old man, who was treated by chemotherapy for multiple myeloma, attended to dermatology unit for a painful erythematobullous plaque of abdomen with central ulceration. There were similar multiple plaques on arms and lower limbs. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found in blood. Histopathology demonstrated dermal involvement of polymorphonuclear neutrophilic leucocytes without vasculitis. This picture was typical of acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis. According to our knowledge, this case is the first reported of association of Sweet syndrome and P. aeruginosa infection. The improvement of this case thanks to antibiotics strengthens infectious pathogenesis. © Nouv. Dermatol. 2008.
