Description
The flammability properties of polypropylene (PP) were improved using metal chelates of poly(iminoethylene) dithiocarbamate copolymer intercalated with montmorillonite. These chelates were obtained from prepared intercalated Zn, Cu, Ni and Co metal chelates of poly(iminoethylene) dithiocarbamate copolymer with montmorillonite. Cone calorimetry was used to assess the flammability of the formulated PP samples. The thermal stability of the materials produced was studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and good thermal stability with high char yield was observed. © Smithers Rapra Technology, 2008.
