⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar stepheating age determinations relevant to formation of the Vredefort Dome, South Africa

40Ar/39Ar stepheating age determinations were performed on seven mineral concentrates and one whole-rock sample from the enigmatic Vredefort Dome structure in South Africa. The results reveal significant geochronological differences between the rocks in the north-eastern and north-western sectors of the dome and confirm the importance of repeated episodes of total and partial argon loss overprinting in the paragenesis of many Vredefort rocks. -from Authors
