In the African context cryptococcal meningitis is related with HIV/AIDS. We report 3 cases of cryptococcal meningitis which occurred in HIV negative patients. A man and 2 women without any particular medical history were concerned. The fungus was identified after mycological examination of the cerebrospinal fluid, the soluble antigens and the culture on Sabouraud's medium. Serotyping was not done. Total CD4 counts were 452/ml, 1299/ml and 1100/ml respectively. Except this lymphopenia CD4 (452/ml) we did not identify any clear cause of immunodeficiency in the 3 cases. All the patients were cured by amphotericin B (Fungizone®) (intravenous administration). None received secondary chemoprophylaxis. Outcome was favorable without any relapse or sequelae after 3 years of follow up.
