Communications issues in concurrent life-cycle design and construction

BT Technology Journal, Volume 15, No. 1, Year 1997

Concurrent engineering offers the potential for a radical transformation of construction into a more competitive, more efficient and more collaborative industry. To take advantage of this potential, there is the need for effective communication at all levels within the industry. This paper explores the communications issues which are implicit in the adoption of concurrent engineering principles in construction. It identifies seven facets of communication which need to be addressed and highlights the need for efficient management of a collaborative communications infrastructure.
