Among various parameters relating to nutritional anemias, the vitaminic factors appear to play an important role in the genesis of these anemias. Investigators studied Senegalese women and pre-school children in an attempt to demonstrate the possible relationships between the plasmatic levels of vitamin A and the two hematological parameters - hemoglobin and hematocrit characteristically used to define nutritional anemias. The results suggest that the plasmatic levels of vitamin A do not relate directly to these anemias.
