Herein, ethanol (C2H5OH) sensing properties of nanocrystalline copper oxide (CuO) nanoplates were investigated. The resistive chemi-sensor devices based on CuO nanoplates were fabricated for the enhanced and selective sensing of ethanol gas. The fabricated sensor exhibited a high ethanol response of 176% towards ethanol gas concentration of 100 ppm at 250 °C. At optimized reaction conditions, in presence of various gases, i.e. NO2, CO2, CH4, and H2, the response of the fabricated sensor was highest which confirmed the high-selectivity. The fabricated CuO nanoplates based gas sensor was also employed for transient ethanol response and stability.
