This paper explores the impact of food safety regulations on developing country exports of agricultural and food products through a case study of fish exports from Kenya to the European Union (EU). It explores the restrictions on exports that Kenya has faced since 1996 and the impact that these have had on participants in the export supply chain. Finally, the implications for the future development of Kenyan fish exports are assessed.
