Downhill esophageal varices complicating a Behcet’s disease: a rare situation Superior vena cava thrombosis, a possible complication of Behçet disease, can lead to the development of venous collaterals in the upper esophagus known as Downhill esophageal varices. It is a rare condition, and bleeding from this varices, although rarer, can be life-threatening. Presently describe is a case of a 25-year-old male patient with five years history of Behçet disease, presenting a superior vena cava syndrome with upper gastro intestinal bleeding consequent to the Downhill esophageal varices.
