Long-term effects of a commitment strategy: Increase the sport association membership of a college in Mayotte

Pratiques Psychologiques, Volume 22, No. 4, Year 2016

Introduction Students sports association college participation covers a multiplicity of issues (organizational, health, identity). Objective To increase the number of students in the sports association of a Mahorais college, we conduct a research-intervention in line with commitment theory and evocation of freedom. Method The identification of relevant researches and their application conditions allowed integrating a commitment strategy within the educative dynamics of the institution. Results The results indicate that this strategy increased (over 3 years) the sports association membership. Conclusion After the identification of the limits of this action-research, we finally discuss the interest of an applied social psychology perspective.
